Blasphemous Creations

Blasphemous Creation is a killer death/thrash metal band that has just put one amazing CD. I sent the band an email interview and here is what Fleshgrinder said to my questions:

MC: Let's get the 1st boring question out of the way, what is the line up of the band and how did the band form? Were any members in other bands?

Fleshgrinder: The lineup right now is
Fleshgrinder: lead guitar and vocals
Gatekeeper: rhythm guitar
Disinter: bass
Bonekrusher: drums

Bonekrusher and I were in a hardcore punk band called Leprosy back in 2004. We got bored with that and we wanted to do some real heavy and fast metal so we left to form Blasphemous Creation at the beginning of 2006. This is Disinter and Gatekeeper's first band.

MC: How did you come up with the name of the band and were many names thrown around before coming up with the name that you choose?

FG: When we first started the band it was called Butchery, but we found out there was too many bands already called that. So we threw around a bunch of names until we found one that wasn't taken and also the most fitting to our music.

MC: The CD I have is awesome display of death/thrash metal. What are your thoughts on the CD? Are you happy with it and how has the response been to it so far? How do you plan on promoting it?

FG: The production could have been better but we feel that the songs are well written and heavy as fuck. We've had nothing but positive reviews on the Black Winter CD so we're pretty happy with it. Our next demo Shadows Of Evil will be released probably in April of 2008. Its gonna be recorded in a pro studio so we're real excited about that. So far we've just been selling our cd at shows and sending it out to record labels and magazines. Its also for sale at cdbaby.com

MC: Is this your 1st cd release? Where was it recorded and how long were you in the studio for and how many CDs did you print up and where did you get it done at?

FG: Black Winter is our second demo. It was recorded by me in our rehearsal studio. It only took four 2 hour sessions to record it. We had em made at a place called cddvdnow and we made only 250 copies.

MC: How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it? Do you feel your an original band?

FG: We are in your face blackened thrash metal. We feel that our mix of Death, Black, and Thrash metal makes us unique in a way. Its hard to be original these days since there's so many fuckin bands and everything's been done already. We always strive to come up with fresh ideas to keep it original

MC: Do you have any goals for the band or 2008? Are you looking for a record deal and if so what label would you like to try and get on?

FG: We will release our new demo and probably do a small west coast tour. Our ultimate goal is to get a record deal with a good label so we can spread our fury across the world. We've sent our demo to labels like Metal Blade, Earache, Relapse, Candlelight, labels that we know like bands like us.

MC: Is there a healthy metal scene based on where you are at and do you have a good following? Have you had a chance to share the stage with any national acts yet?

FG: There's a few bands in Reno that are metal, but its pretty much dead here. There's not a lot of people that like metal here, but the people that do are loyal fans and they always come out to see us play. We have played with Brain Drill who is on Metal Blade and also Sentinal Beast who was on Metal Blade back in the 80s.

MC: Is it easy for the band to write songs and lyrics? Which come first or it doesn't matter? What was the hardest and easiest song you have wrote so far and does the band have a 'favorite" song?

FG: Its not easy to right a good song, It takes time and patience. Its a challenge to write something catchy that's also heavy and evil at the same time. We usually write lyrics and give the song a title then we write music that best goes with the words. The hardest song we wrote is probably Fallen Angel which will be on our new demo. That one took like a month to write. The easiest was probably Chosen One Which was on our first demo. I wrote that in like 2 hours. There isn't one song that we don't like.

MC: Do you have a website or MY Space page and if you do or have both what are the url's and what will people see when they log onto your sites?

FG: Our myspace url is:

www.myspace.com/blasphemouscreation

Basically, you will see show dates, pictures, reviews, mp3's, everything you need to know about Blasphemous Creation

MC: How much time do you think is spent on doing band related stuff?

FG: Our band is our fuckin life. We spend pretty much every spare moment with this shit.

MC: Do you feel your a good live band and do you have any videos of the band on You Tube or your websites?

FG: Our performance is just as crushing as our music. We feed off of the crowd's energy so if they go wild, so do we. Even if the turnout is weak we still perform as if the place is packed. As far as live sound its always brutal as fuck.

MC: How have the reviews been so far and have you read any in your opinion unfair reviews?

FG: The reviews have been straight up and pretty much dead on. Every review we get is very positive.

MC: When can we expect some new songs and will they be in the same vein as the stuff on the CD I got?

FG: Yes we have written the songs for the new CD already and they're even more intense than the ones on the Black Winter CD. Be prepared for war.

MC: Tell me a little bit about each band member and you all get along fairly well?

BC: Gatekeeper: Fleshgrinder is the business oriented dick that pretty much runs the show.
Disinter: Its cool that he's totally dedicated though.
Bonekrusher: Gatekeeper shreds unlike any other 16 year old I know.
Gatekeeper: Bonekrusher is the typical rambunctious drummer that parties harder than all of us.
Getekeeper: Disinter is the calm mellow guy that's level headed but he's a dumbass when he drinks.

MC: What are some of your favorite bands and if you could choose to do one cover song, what song would it be and why?

FG: Our favorite bands are Death, Deicide, Kreator, Destruction, Dismember, Dissection, Morbid Angel, the list goes on and on. We don't do covers but if we did it would probably be Nights Blood by Dissection cause its one of our favorites.

MC: Do you think metal is in a healthy state now or are there too many unoriginal bands nowadays passing themselves off as metal?

FG: There's a lot of screamo metalcore crap out there right now with a bunch of emo wimps with girl haircuts that claim to be metal. Yet when you listen to the music it sounds like watered down versions of Avenged Sevenfold. Other than that there's still a lot of bands that keep it real.

MC: Do you think with the right label and push that the band could be as big as say Morbid Angel or Cannibal Corpse?

Gatekeeper: Most definitely, but keep in mind its not cockiness its confidence that with a good label behind us we will be the next big name metal band.

MC: When the band finally breaks up, what would you like the band to be remembered for?

FG: Being the toughest metal band ever.

MC: Answer me this, somebody should be your CD because?

FG: Because if your into old school death/black/thrash you will love this CD. Its not for the weak but for fans of true metal.

MC: What merchandise do you have for sale?

FG: We sold it all but we will be making new merch for the Shadows Of Evil release.

MC: Do you have a favorite live show and a worst show and what was the funniest thing that ever happened at one of your shows?

FG: Our favorite was when we played in Chico, CA at the Off Limits. We met Christophe Szpajdel, the guy who drew Emperor's logo. He saw our performance and was impressed so he designed a logo for us. Nothin really funny ever happened but our worst show was at the Satellite in Reno because the crowd was a bunch of yuppies and we got rushed to set up and didn't get a sound check. That night sucked.

MC: If you could have 3 wishes what would they be and why?

FG: To get signed to a big label, to play the Wacken festival, and to be the most well known metal band because our band is our life.

MC: Any last words. Horns up for the interview.

Gatekeeper: death to the false ones hail to the true
Fleshgrinder: agree
Bonekrusher: live fast die young while playing metal
Disinter: Hail Satan
